Where does A Flying Fork deliver?

A Flying Fork aims to serve South Simcoe communities that lack an established transportation system. In order to reach such a wide area, we deliver:

on Wednesdays and Fridays to our North locations within South Barrie, Innisfil and Essa, and
on Tuesdays and Thursdays to our South locations within Bradford and New Tecumseth.

Here is a map outlining the boundaries of our service areas.



Note that Everett and Lisle are not on the map, but are included, with Alliston in the South service area. Boundaries and delivery days are subject to change in response to demand, so let us know what you need!

As a courtesy, if there are any oddities or particularities about your address, please let us know about them before delivery by making a note during the checkout process in the Comments box.

When does A Flying Fork deliver?

We deliver as early as the day after you place your order, Tuesdays to Fridays, in one-hour delivery slots, so you won't have to wait around. You can schedule a delivery time up to two weeks in advance, or as late as the night before (subject to availability). Listed below is our general schedule - these schedules are subject to change.

We are closed on Sundays and Mondays, and statutory holidays such as Thanksgiving Day and Christmas / Boxing Day. Other changes to our delivery schedule and to order deadlines will be posted on the Flying Fork site.

Time slots for deliveries will be made available online two weeks in advance. Please be sure to select from the appropriate choices for your location.

Delivery time 'slots' span one-hour timeframes. This is done so that we can cover a wide delivery area in the most efficient way possible. If a timeframe of 1pm-2pm is chosen, we could arrive at 1pm or at 2pm, or anywhere in between. This situation may not work for some people - to help us target an exact delivery time for you, please order as early as possible and alert us to your need, either by a comment at checkout, by an email or phone call. We'll do our best to accomodate you but there are no guarantees.

All orders must be placed by 10:00pm of the day before the delivery date. Delivery slots fill up fast, so we recommend that you place a basic order early so as not to miss out at high-demand times.

Is there a charge for delivery?

The fee for shopping and delivery is as low as $6.00 for pick-up, and $12.00 for delivery right to your door!

Standard Home Delivery - $15

Orders must be place by the deadline of 10pm of the day prior to delivery, subject to availabilty of delivery slots for your area. The minimum order subtotal (before taxes and delivery fees) is $40.00.
Our standard Home Delivery fee is $13.27. With GST (5%) and PST (8%), this comes to $15.00.

Standard Pickup Service - $15

On Thursdays we are stationed at commuter parking lots between the hours of 5:00pm - 7:00pm, holding a limited number of orders for pickup.
Our fee for Pickup Service is $13.27. With GST (5%) and PST (8%), this comes to $15.00.

Alcohol Delivery with Grocery Order

A Flying Fork is licensed through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to deliver alcohol (wine, beer, liquor) to residences in our delivery area. Licensed products cannot be advertised specifically on our site, but customers may request specific brands and sizes of wine, beer, liqour and other alcoholic beverages, in the Comments box at checkout. Selection is limited to what the local LCBO or Beer Store has available at the time of delivery. With advance notice we may be able to check the larger stores for you. You must have attained the age of 19 to order AND to receive the order, and be prepared to provide acceptable ID and a signature.

Alcohol included in standard home delivery orders are not charged a premium as long as the alcohol order was placed with the grocery order in advance.

The charge provides for one quick-stop shopping episode at an LCBO or Beer Store or other local store (such as a pharmacy or convenience store). Additional stops are $2 each. GST applies.

Does A Flying Fork make Unattended Deliveries?

Unattended deliveries will be made very rarely, and only by prior arrangement. Under no circumstance will alcohol be delivered unattended. Unattended deliveries will not be made where we believe that food quality may be compromised. A Flying Fork is not responsible for damage or theft of unattended orders.

Can an order be received by a neigbour in my absence?
May I place an order for another person at a different address?

Yes, as long as our payment requirements are fulfilled, and the person receiving your order is committed to being there to receive and store the order appropriately.

Can I place an order for someone else or for a different address than my own? It is possible for a customer to place an order for someone at a different address (perhaps a parent or convalescing friend, or deliver an order to your cottage within our delivery area). Remember, payment is collected at the time and place of delivery. Call us to discuss advance payment options.

Can I pick up my order from your facility?

We shop your order from our various suppliers on the day of delivery, and don't maintain large warehouses like the large urban grocery 'e-tailers'. Therefore our 'facility' is a bit of a moving target ;)

We do offer a pickup arrangement where our couriers are stationed at a commuter parking lot during high traffic times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Customers who miss their delivery window may call us to request to meet the courier to avoid re-delivery fees.

Who is responsible for assembling my order?

At A Flying Fork, our exclusive suppliers, shoppers and couriers have special expertise in their area. So, whether we are selecting nice plump fruits and vegetables, cutting steaks, or packing your food into hampers, each member of our team takes pride in the quality of his or her products and handles every item with care.

How does delivery work?

When you check out, select a delivery time as soon as the next day. Your courier will bring the order to your door (please make sure he or she can get into the building). You will receive a printed copy of your receipt from the courier.

Please note that in order to meet our delivery times for all of our customers, couriers can't wait for an inspection of the items delivered. If anything is out of place or missing from your order, please contact A Flying Fork Customer Service right away online or by calling 705-719-2173 (office).

Bad weather or other unforeseeable traffic emergencies may force us to postpone or suspend chosen delivery dates and times. In this event, our Customer Care department may call the contact phone number we have on record for you with important details on the status of your order. To make sure your phone numbers on record are current, login and check your account details.

Same-Day Delivery

We do not allow same day deliveries of orders placed through our shopping cart. Same day orders may be available on Saturdays and must be requested by phone. We simply shop at whichever retailer is most expedient and present you with the retail receipts along with our shopping and delivery fee. Orders of this nature are limited to a value of $60.00, and the delivery fees are negotiated in relation to the courier's proximity to your area when the order is placed.
Same-Day Delivery fees are $20 and up, plus 7% GST.

Can I check the progress of my delivery or contact my courier directly on Delivery Day?

You may always double-check your delivery time by either logging in to your account and viewing your pending order, or by checking your confirmation email. Please call or text our courier phone 705-818-FORK if want to know the current status of the delivery.

Customers may add to their order 'last minute' via phone call by 10:00am of their delivery day. Our couriers reserve the right to place limits on last minute additions, or to deny them altogether. This offer should only be used occasionally for 'afterthought' items. Call the courier line directly: 705-818-FORK.

Must I allow the courier to enter my home?

Our couriers will not enter your home unless invited. Among our many goals are to be both friendly and expedient. Please allow our couriers to deliver your groceries as quickly and carefully as possible to your door. For your safety, all couriers will be provided with a visible ID tag, and you may call us to confirm the courier's identity. A Flying Fork will make an effort to have your regular orders handled by consistent personnel.

If you desire in-home assistance with heavier items, please indicate this by making a note during the checkout process in the Comments box. Couriers are encouraged to exercise their own judgement when deciding to enter a private home. Likewise, you are not obligated to allow entry to your home if you have any concern whatsoever.

What if I'm not home to receive my order?

Unforeseen situations such as inclement weather, road detours, accidents, and other Acts of God could delay you from being present to receive your order on time. If you think that you may miss your delivery, please call A Flying Fork Customer Service at 705-719-2173 (office).

Our couriers will attempt redelivery while they are still in the area, and if still unsuccessful we will make an attempt to contact you at the alternate phone numbers listed in your account.

In situations where the courier has left the delivery area and must now incur costs to return to redeliver an order, an additional $10.00 redelivery charge will be levied. A Flying Fork does not guarantee the quality of perishable items included in a redelivery - we may have had to remove them from refrigeration to make way for other orders. An alternate option may be negotiated where the customer arranges to meet the courier to pick up the order, and face no penalty.

If your order cannot be redelivered that day there is a restocking fee of 100% of the cost of perishable items in the order plus 25% of the cost of packaged goods plus 50% of the total amount of any beer items, excluding fees and taxes.

We'll always try to deliver your order directly to you. By prior arrangement, you may authorize a willing neighbour or family member to receive orders on your behalf, as long as our payment requirements are fulfilled, and the recipient is committed to being there to receive and store the order appropriately.

How are my groceries packaged?

Your groceries will be handed to you in plastic and/or paper shopping bags. While in transport, perishable items are held in refrigerated coolers to maintain optimum freshness. Frozen items will stay frozen in our icebox. General groceries are held in stacking rigid hampers to prevent damage. We recommend that you store your groceries immediately upon delivery and recycle the bags.

What if my order contains beer or wine?

A Flying Fork is licensed as a Liquor Delivery Service through the AGCO. If your order contains alcoholic beverages, the person receiving your delivery must have identification proving they are of the legal age (19+ in Ontario), and will be asked for their signature. If no one over the age of 18 can sign for delivery, the courier will remove alcoholic beverages from the order and you will be charged a 50% restocking fee.

Should I tip the courier?

You are under no obligation to tip but have the option of providing a nominal tip if you feel that you've received exceptional service. A Flying Fork delivery personnel are not permitted to solicit tips under any circumstances. If you have a comment or compliment please e-mail us. We'd love to hear from you!
