Who may order?

Creating an account and shopping from the A Flying Fork site may only be done by individuals over the age of 18. If are under the age of 18, you may purchase products through an account set up by a parent or guardian who has authorized you to use it. Products for sale on this site are intended to be delivered to addresses in Ontario, Canada within our defined delivery areas and pick-up locations. Any product ordered or purchased from A Flying Fork may only be ordered by those legally entitled to purchase such products, and must be used for lawful purposes. Alcohol (liquor, beer, wine, spirits) orders may be placed by individuals who have attained the age of 19 and can show ID. Delivery of alcohol is to residences only.

How do I order?

A Flying Fork is primarily an online self-serve shopping cart and we have designed the site to be as user-friendly as possible. To learn about the time-saving QuickList and Search features, please read on.

Orders may also be placed by phone or email, when absolutely necessary.

Ordering Deadline


All orders must be placed by 10:00pm of the evening preceding the delivery date. Delivery slots fill up fast, so we recommend that you place a basic order ($40 minimum) early so as not to miss out at high-demand times. You may add to an earlier order within the deadline.

Can I order by phone or by email?

Yes, we accept telephone orders for our valued customers may not have Internet access at home, and we offer this option for them with no additional fees. Email orders may be taken for those who are occasionally too rushed to self-serve. A simple list may be submitted and we will enter your order as we do for phone deliveries and reply with your total and delivery time options.

** We cannot assign delivery slots while on the road. For immediate assistance it is best to call us between 8pm and 10pm Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Can I order for same-day delivery?

Generally, no. We require that orders be submitted by 10:00pm the day before the delivery.

On Friday and Saturday evenings we may be able to accomodate one-stop orders such as emergency supplies, depending on liquor delivery demand. These orders must be requested by phone.

Your Online Shopping Session

There is no need to register for an account first. You may begin shopping for your groceries right away or simply browse our store. When you are ready to place your first order, we will ask you for a few bits of information to set up your account. **We do not take credit information** A Flying Fork respects your privacy, and your personal information is never shared with outside parties. Click here to find out how easy it is to create a shopping account with A Flying Fork. Once you're registered we recommend that you log in at the beginning of each shopping session. That way, if your shopping session is interrupted, the contents of your cart will be saved until your next visit.

Log In

You must log in to identify yourself by username (email address) and password, before you can checkout. You may shop first and then log in when you are ready, or you may log in prior to shopping. If you are logged in while you shop, your cart contents will be saved if for some reason your session is interrupted.

To log in, click the Log In link on the green bar.

Choose a Delivery Time

Click the link to select a delivery time.



Review the delivery times for your specific area, and even reserve a delivery time before you start shopping. Please be sure to select from the appropriate choices for your location. For example, if you are in our South Service Area of Bradford and New Tecumseth, delivery slots will be restricted to Tuesdays and Thursdays.

To guarantee this delivery time, you must complete (checkout and submit) your order during this shopping session. If you exit the store before you Submit your order, you will lose your reserved time.

Remember that all Flying Fork deliveries are 'Attended deliveries', meaning that someone must be available to accept your order and to pay, so choose a time that you are reasonably sure you can attend.

You will find that the Delivery slots do not have a price attached. Delivery fees will be added at checkout.

Select your Groceries

Use the Department links in the left bar to shop by aisle like at your grocery store,



or use the Search feature to find a specific item.



Other quick search lists are available through our QuickLists and Recipe Archive grocery lists (read on).

Grocery Departments are listed in the left bar. Click on a department and the subcategory 'Aisles' appear in the main frame.



Click on each icon (picture) to view the products. Review the New Products in each department.

Grocery items are listed in alphabetical order, 20 at a time.



At the top and bottom of each product listing is a total number of products and a 'Next' link to view the next pages in the list.



For many of our specialty products, we have included pertinent information such as ingredients. To view this, click on the product icon or product name. Some items require selections to be made - for example - would you like your bread sliced or unsliced? In these cases, when you click the Add to Cart button, you will be prompted to select your choices from a dropdown menu.



When you are done viewing the product information or making your selections, just close the window and you will be brought back to your aisle.

Search Box and Lists



The Search box is always visible at the top left of your screen so you can quickly locate exactly what you want. Just type in what you are looking for, click the search button and select from the list of products displayed to start shopping.

Here are some tips for using the search box: Be general when describing the item. Use only the first 3 or 4 letters i.e.mayo instead of mayonnaise. Avoid using plurals - Kellogg instead of Kelloggs. Check your spelling.

QuickLists have been created to sort items based on popular criteria, such as organic. The QuickLists are located below the Departments in the left bar.



Another helpful feature is our recipe archive found in the 'Inspiration' section. We will be adding to this archive on a monthly basis with the input of our creative customers and local chefs. As an added value, we organize each recipe's ingredients into handy shopping lists for your convenience.

Prices and Descriptions

Prices shown on the website are without taxes. Most basic groceries in Ontario are 'zero-rated', but certain items, like non-food items and medicine, as well as small-serve snack foods, are subject to Federal GST, Provincial PST, or both. Applicable taxes are indicated by **G for 6% GST, **P for 8% PST, and **GP for items subject to both taxes.



Taxes will be added at checkout and itemized on your final bill.

Add to Cart



When you find what you want, click the Add to Cart button. For multiple quantities, click the button again (and again) until the desired quantity is shown in the Cart Contents in the right bar.

Don't worry if you make a mistake or change your mind - you can remove items from your cart and/or amend quantities in the Manage Cart page (see next section).



As you shop, the contents of your cart will appear in the right sidebar with a running subtotal. The subtotal does not reflect applicable taxes or delivery charges. The minimum order subtotal (before taxes and delivery fees) is $40.

How can I change the contents of my shopping cart?

Perhaps you've been trying out the shopping cart but did not wish to put through an order. The next time you log in you may find you still have contents in your cart. Or perhaps while shopping, you want to put certain items 'back on the shelf'.

To remove items or change the quantities of items in your cart:

Click the Manage Cart link in the green bar.



The contents of your cart are displayed. To change the quantity of an item (from 2 to 1 for example), enter the new number in the Qty box.



To remove items, place a checkmark in the Remove box for each product you wish to delete entirely.



When all changes are made, click the Update button.

How can I make online shopping faster?

Online shopping is quick and easy. Your first shopping trip may take a little more time, as you discover the set-up of our store. You can also use our Search feature or the QuickLists to locate your favourite products.

What happens to my cart if I leave before checking out?

If you have an account with us and are logged in while shopping, we'll save everything in your cart. The next time you come back, you can pick up where you left off. You will have to re-select a delivery slot and follow through with the order confirmation to reserve the time slot.

Checkout and Place Order

Once you have everything you need, click the Checkout link in the green bar.



Follow the directions to confirm delivery arrangements and payment options. In the 'Comments' box, specify any special instructions you would like to give your courier, such as which door you would like your delivery, the message to be written on the birthday cake, etc.

Continue through the checkout pages by clicking Continue. After you've made sure that everything is correct, click Confirm Order.

In a moment, you will receive confirmation that your order has been received. We will also send you an e-mail confirming your delivery date and time and the items you ordered. If the email does not arrive in your Inbox within a few minutes, please check to see if the order actually was confirmed. You can tell that the order has not been placed if you log on and there are still contents in your cart.

How can I check on my order?

To find out the status of your order, to check your delivery time, or to remember which items you ordered, simply log in to your account and view your pending order, or you can refer to the email confirmation sent when you placed the order. If your order data or confirmation email is missing, please log in and check the Cart Contents in the right bar. If your cart contents are still showing, this means the order was not confirmed. Call us immediately to see if we can still accomodate the order and delivery slot.

How can I add to (or change) an order that has already been placed?

Prior to the delivery date, you may add to (or change) an existing order by placing a second order by 10:00pm of the day before the delivery. In this case, do not select a delivery slot, just write us a note in the area provided at checkout, asking that the order be combined with the earlier one. Updates and additions may also be made by phone.

Please note: An original minimum order of $40 (before taxes and delivery fees) must be placed to reserve a delivery slot. If the later order is substantial, we'd appreciate as much advance notice as you can afford us.

On the delivery date itself, customers may call to be dispatched through to their couriers before 10:00am to see if the schedule permits the addition of a very limited number of additional items. Call 705-719-2173.

Can I reschedule or cancel an order?

Orders cannot be rescheduled or canceled online. Please notify us immediately if circumstances dictate a cancellation or rescheduling of your delivery. This way we can give the delivery slot to someone else.

If you must cancel your order, it is essential to do so by the regular deadline of 10:00 p.m. prior to the scheduled delivery day; otherwise, your delivery may proceed as expected and you may incur restocking or redelivery charges. If you miss the deadline, please call us immediately at 705-719-2173 (office).

Deliveries that not received due to your absence without notice will result in the delivery fee being charged to your account. Your account will also be charged for 100% value of any perishable items ordered and may be subjected to additional re-stocking fees ( 25% of the cost of packaged goods plus 50% of the total amount of any beer items, excluding fees and tax). As always, we are reasonable and take the circumstances into consideration in making these determinations. Please call us as soon as you are able.

Does A Flying Fork make substitutions?

Our goal is to fulfill 100% of each customer's order. Occasionally, market conditions beyond our control may cause an item to become unavailable. Of course if this occurs A Flying Fork will not charge you for the missing item. Please keep in mind that we are not responsible for manufacturer packaging changes or product reformulations. Upon occasion you may receive a product with a larger quantity, volume or weight than advertised - but the price will remain the same.

A Flying Fork rarely makes brand substitutions, but always substitutes with the premium quality brands. In many cases, we list in the brands we may substitute in the product descriptions. Whenever we make a substitution, you will never be charged more than the price of the original item ordered. If the substituted item is less expensive than the item ordered, you will be charged the lower price.

The above information refers to brand substitutions. Prices for cuts of meats and fresh produce are estimated - a small charge or refund may be applied at the door.

Your Satisfaction Is Always Guaranteed. Your courier will alert you if a product has been substituted. If the substituted item is unacceptable, just return it to the courier for credit to your A Flying Fork account.

If there are certain items in your order that you will not accept substitutions for, please indicate this in the comments box at Checkout. As you become a regular customer, your courier will become familar with your requirements.

Can I return something if I'm not satisfied?

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If for any reason, you are dissatisfied with an item during your home delivery, we will take it back and credit your order… no questions asked. Since we hand-pick your groceries, we pay close attention to quality as we would for our own families. We want to know your opinions of the products we carry, and know as soon as possible of any problems, so they may be corrected.

If, after delivery, you discover a product in your order that is unacceptable, please call us and a customer service representative will be happy to assist you. Items may be returned for 100% credit up to 14 days after your delivery date. A courier will pick up the item and any credits will be applied to your next order. We regret that for health and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns after 14 days.

How are fluctuating prices handled?

We update the prices for items such as fresh produce on a monthly basis to reflect seasonal price fluctuations. Check the product descriptions for the price per kg rate that the final price is based on. A Flying Fork reserves the right to limit the quantities of items that experience sudden price spikes in response to market conditions.

Do I benefit from sale prices that go into effect after my order has been placed (but before delivery)?

You will be charged the prices in effect when you place an item in your cart. Once you submit the order, the price is locked in. If you notice an item in your existing order that has come on sale just prior to your delivery, please notify us and we'll apply the discount.

Not at this time.

When are credits applied?

We will apply any outstanding credits to your next order at the time of delivery. Credits will not show in your online account.
